"Dr Mark" Besancon

As a veterinarian and entrepreneur, Dr. Mark’s mission is to heal, innovate, educate, and invest. A Texas native, he grew up in a family of animal lovers and knew early on that he wanted to dedicate his life to working with animals.

He began his college career studying bioengineering at Texas A&M University–Kingsville, with a focus on orthotics and implant design, but later shifted his path toward veterinary medicine. In 2005, he earned his Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) degree from Texas A&M University and returned to his hometown of Beeville to practice at a mixed animal hospital.

Shortly after graduating, Dr. Mark married Magen, a Victoria native. The couple moved to Victoria in 2007, where he joined a local small animal practice. In 2009, he co-founded Crossroads Veterinary Clinic, providing both small and large animal services to the Golden Crescent region. Continuing his drive to improve access to veterinary care, he co-founded Nexus Veterinary Specialists | Victoria in 2020, expanding specialty services in the area, where he practiced in this hybrid general and specialty clinic for three years.

Dr. Mark has always had a strong passion for innovation and design. In 2018, he launched Besançon Innovations, a company dedicated to developing solutions that enhance all aspects of animal life. Building on that vision, he founded DrMark.Vet in late 2022 with a mission to safely and simply create, educate, and improve ideas, products, and procedures related to animal care. The company also invests in other innovators, helping bring their ideas to life.

In 2024, DrMark.Vet expanded further with the opening of a small animal hospital, where Dr. Mark continues to provide high-quality, advanced veterinary services to Victoria and the surrounding areas. He also broadened the company to include consulting and education services, becoming a Key Opinion Leader (KOL) for several industry companies. In this role, he travels to share knowledge and educate colleagues on the latest advancements in veterinary medicine.

Beyond clinical practice and consulting, Dr. Mark is committed to advancing the profession by publishing pertinent data through studies and securing patents to protect his designs.

Dr. Mark is an active member of the American Veterinary Medical Association (AVMA), Texas Veterinary Medical Association (TVMA), and Coastal Bend Veterinary Medical Association (CBVMA).

He and Magen have made Victoria their home along with their two sons. In his free time, Dr. Mark enjoys spending time with family, traveling, innovating new ideas, coin collecting, welding, and building projects of all kinds.
